Morsel has landed!
almost 6 years ago – Tue, Jul 17, 2018 at 01:31:53 AM

The first sample batch of Morsels just arrived and they're looking fantastic!

We're currently at SporkCon 9, and our factory is making some minor tweaks to our molds to crank our spork quality up to 11 before making the first Big Batch, which is slated to ship to our distribution center in early August.

PS, we'll be at the Outdoor Retailer show in Denver next week. If you see us walking around, say hello! We'll be wearing official Morsel Nom Squad shirts.

We're pretty sure our founding fathers once said that a picture is worth a thousand words. We don't want to be too verbose, so here's a couple fresh pictures straight from Morsel HQ.

Worthy of celebration.

Happy 4th of July, everyone.

Party like it's 1776.

So here's some big news: We're finally sporking! Our test batch of pre-color Morsels have been molded, and we've also received our final batch of color samples. This is like an 7 on the Sporktastic Scale (0-11). Once we get our tools shipped to the factory and start cranking out colors, we'll be at a solid 10, but we can still crank the Spork Level to 11 in case of emergency.

A quick update on shipping and delivery times: due to the sheer size of our launch, it will take a little longer than anticipated to actually mold THAT many sporks. It simply takes more time to mold so many. We've been leaning heavily on our factory to accelerate the schedule to get these out as quickly as possible, and right now it looks like we are on track to start shipping to backers the first week in August, and continuing through the month.

As of writing this, about 90% of our backers have responded to their personalized email invites to fill out our Backerkit survey. This is where you can pick colors, styles, and shipping details. You can also add additional discounted (!) Morsels to your order. If you didn't get a survey for some reason, you can still CLICK HERE to access your personalized survey.

As a quick reminder, any orders containing a Morsel Mini will be delayed ~2 months. If you want a Morsel Spork or Spoon in addition to a Mini, we suggest placing two separate orders: one for Morsel Spork and Spoon, and another order for Mini.

Cutting Steel for Cool Sporks

Exciting things are afoot in SporkLand!

We spent more time looking at our plastic color sample chips, and have finally arrived at colors that truly capture the essence of Morsel. We think you'll dig 'em.

Here's some more exciting news: our steel molds are just about done and ready for texturing! Check out these gorgeous chunks of precision steel! If you look close you can see the mold inserts that allow us to mold Morsel Spork and Morsel Spoon from the same base tool.

By now, all of our backers should have received a personalized email invite to fill out our Backerkit survey. This is where you can pick colors, styles, and shipping details. We're still working hard to get Morsel into your hands, so thank you all for your continued support! If you want to help us out even more, please share Morsel with your food-loving friends and family - really, anyone you know that regularly eats food.

Cheers, and go enjoy that summer sun!

Summer is for Sporking!
almost 6 years ago – Thu, May 24, 2018 at 12:46:54 AM

After our long, wet Oregon spring, it's looking like summer is finally here!

We've been keeping busy behind the scenes doing everything we can to move Morsel forward as quickly as possible (but without taking any risky shortcuts). As seems to be the trend, there are always a thousand little details needing attention, and little tasks that turn into bigger headaches. Such is the nature of seriously swanky sporking.

Our tools are in the process of being built, and they truly are masterpieces of mold design. We're using a precision texture-matched insert so we can get Morsel Spork and Morsel Spoon from the same mold base. Pretty dang cool, if you ask us - just look at all those precision datum features and mechanical interlocks! We really geek out on this stuff cause, well, it's super cool if you're into that sort of thing.

We also just got our first batch of color sample chips! Alex is going to be evaluating these samples to ensure that they match the Pantone colors he's spec'd. Don't read too much into the image below though - colors never look accurate on computer screens, especially when taken with a cell phone camera.

What else?

Our Backerkit surveys will start going out this week. It took us a little longer than anticipated to get everything set up and ready to go in Backerkit, but we're finally there! If you want to add additional Morsels to your order, you'll be able to do it through Backerkit. This will also give you the opportunity to pick styles and colors, and to give us your shipping address. The surveys will be sent out first to a smaller group of backers (to make sure everything is working), and then to the rest of our backers. We'll also send out additional campaign updates when the surveys go out, to make sure you don't miss them.

Once again, we have to say a HUGE thank-you to all of our backers. We're still working hard to bring Morsel to life and get these super sporks into your hungry hands.

Cheers,

Team Morsel
